Allen Lazard could be Aaron Rodgers' final piece for the Jets

The growing consensus since free agency began is a matter of when, not whether Aaron Rodgers will join the New York Jets.

Currently, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Jets are working hard to sign Rodgers' former Packers teammate Allen Lazard. Along with new offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, who was Rodgers' OC in Green Bay from 2019-21, Lazard seems to be the last piece of the puzzle to convince Rodgers to accept a move to New York.

"(Lzard) is a close friend of Aaron Rodgers and recently contacted Rodgers," NFL Network's Mike Garafolo said Monday. “Like everyone else, Allen Lazard is waiting to see what Aaron Rodgers will do. Sure he wants to continue playing with Aaron Rodgers if it's appropriate… but when will Rodgers make his decision?"

The duo have spent the past five seasons together in Green Bay, connecting to make 169 hits, 2,236 yards and 20 touches. His additions to the Jets' reception room - include defending Offensive Rookie of the Year Garrett Wilson (83 tackles, 1,103 yards, 4 touchdowns), Elijah Moore (37 tackles, 446 yards). England, one touch) and Corey Davis (32 tackles, 536 yards, two touches) - will give Rodgers a much improved set of pass catchers compared to the group he has at Green Bay in 2022.

With Jakobi Meyers agreeing to a three-year deal with the Las Vegas Raiders on Tuesday morning, the Lazard is arguably one of the best two or three receivers out there. His projected market value according to Spotrac is $12.5 million per season.
